Regionally speaking…
On the 12th of March, the representatives of the Sud-Muntenia region partook in a regional event organised in the city of Tirgoviste located in the county of Dambovita. It was at least exciting to use the information obtained by participating in the Poiana Marului training in a non-formal educational environment.
The conference with the local authorities started at around 11 am in the morning and lasted for about 1 hour and a half. It was organised in the conference room of the Tirgoviste town hall, room in which where gathered many important people for the purpose of the campaign such as the vice-mayor of Tirgoviste, professor Ciprian Priscaru, the president of the Romania Youth Council, Veronica Stefan and a representative of the Permanent Electoral Autority, Emanuel Palea.
Also, other 4 Youth Ambassadors (Manuela Bivol, Catalin Balan, Andrei Zamfir and Cristian Banulescu) took part to this meeting and expressed their point of view regarding the purpose of the campaign, why the social active pariticpation is a must among young people and how are they to multily the message of the campaign in the region that they represent.
After a 1 hour lunch break, the event continued in the premises of the local library, named Ion Heliade Radulescu, a great Romanian writer. This second part of the event consisted in an informative seminar concerning active paricipation, European institutions and the EP elections that are to take place on the 25th of May, the current year.
I was pleasantly surprised by the number of interested youth representatives that came to this seminar and their active collaboration with the trainers and the hosts of the event. As youth ambassadors, it was a great pleasure to be a resource person for the Public Caffee collective opinion exercise.
I consider this type of events of the utmost importance in what concerns the non-formal education and the importance of acquiring information about the European Union. I think that, as European citizens, we have (at least) the duty to understand how this gargantuan mechanism works, how it influences our lives and how we can use it in the favour of our future.
Dissatisfied people change the world.
